The Buggy Alumni Association is auctioning off the chance to ride in the lead truck on raceday for each heat of prelims and finals. Check out the full details here
http://cmubuggy.org/Auction

If you have any questions, suggestions, or requests for clarification on how things will work, post them here.

I won a lead car spot for the 2009 heats, you can too!

Cheers!

Auction rule change

After some testing, it seems like the $2 bid increment causes confusion, especially when combined with the max bid, so we're scrapping it.

All bids must be integers, and each bid must be higher than the ones before it, but beyond that it's up to you.

For whatever it may be worth, as one of the people on this forum who has had the opportunity to ride in the lead truck I would strongly encourage anyone who is considering participating in the auction to do it. One of the major perks of being a sweepstakes chair, head judge, or wrct announcer has been the view you get from the lead truck.

If you were an org. chair/safety chair/mechanic and only got stuck in the follow truck where you were always behind the slowest buggy in the heat and couldn't see what was going on up in front this is the view you really wanted. In the lead truck you are more likely to see spins and passes up close than the follow truck.

Hey now, I always liked riding in the follow truck because my buggy's always been the slowest one in the heat, and I like heckling my pushers ;D

The bidding seems to be jacked up... when you bid, it doesn't show your bid... instead it throws an error. It does seem that the bid went through though...

Thanks for pointing this out - it appears to be a bug. We are looking into it right now.

Are the PiKA alums really going to let a Sigma Nu alum win the auction for the Men's A heat?
