Tired of hearing from us yet? Well TOO BAD, I’ve got more Raceday info hot off the presses (from tuesday night) and it’s coming your way. There will be plenty more posts coming out as we continue to get closer and closer to Raceday. Be sure to help us spread the word and tell all your buggy friends about this site if they want to stay informed about what’s being planned for Carnival’s 100th.

Auction

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Auction back this year and this time you won’t have to scramble (as much) to claim your spot in the lead truck. In a new move, Sweepstakes will be having heat selection this coming Monday, a week earlier than usual. This allows us to run the auction for nearly a full business week.

As of now, the plan is to have it up bright and early Tuesday morning running all they way to Truck Weekend. A full 4 days of bidding, which is double the time we had last year. This extra time will also allow us to more easily extend our offer to the parents of students who may be attending. The extra time after the auction and before the races themselves will allow us to more easily track down and inform the winners as well as figure out any funky transactions before everyone is traveling.

Special Guests

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Councilman Dan Gilman have been confirmed as special guests for this year’s races. Since this is his first year in office, Carnival’s 100th year, and him having the status of alumnus, carnival committee pounced on the opportunity. The Mayor will have some opening remarks and start off the first race (timing heat). As an added bonus he and/or Dan Gilman will be taking the lead truck spot, so it will not be available for auction. CMU’s new President Subra Suresh will also likely make a visit to the races, but as of yet there are no major plans.

Buggy DVDs

CMUtv will be selling the 2013 buggy DVDs out of the bookstore this year. Every time we hear from them, they have added more and more things to the set. This DVD will be more jam packed with interesting buggy info than ever before, including some things from us here at the BAA. So don’t hold back, get your butt down to the bookstore this carnival and complete your collection! They are also ambitiously planning on having the 2014 DVDs available in the bookstore before the seniors graduate this May.

That’s all…

…I have for now. As usual, help us spread the word to all people Buggy and share these messages! More to come soon enough and if you are in pittsburgh this weekend and can help with the Rolls Report, please let us know by emailing news@cmubuggy.org so that we can get you the information and materials you need.
