I am glad that you brought up this question as there is not enough clarification in my platform. From my work that I have already done with transportation, here are my thoughts on how shuttle and escort may be expanded and how it will impact buggy.
If the PAT cuts go into effect there will need to be more CMU means of transportation and Pittsburgh in order to replace amount of service lost from PAT. In addition, if there are more routes needed, shuttle is lacking in comparison to escort as it does not currently go to several main housing locations for CMU students.
The major addition that I would like to add (will be difficult do to liability and implementation reasons) are pick ups from off campus to campus. This would not ideally require adding more routes to implement. If a new bus was added, it would be to keep the time intervals the same that they are now.
Evaluate the services needed from the students perspective to try and create the most efficient route structure. Ideally this would increase the mount of service provided while keeping the same number of routes.
Hopefully there would be no impact to how buggy is operating now. I have been a mechanic and have been a part of midnight push practice and understand how annoying it can be. Something that may be interesting for myself to look into is to move the escort stop up the hill so that only hills 1 and 2 will be interrupted instead of all 5.
I encourage you all to read my platform as well as my opponents and make an informed decision on who you believe will be able to serve CMU and have the ability to address and impact concerns such as the one just brought up. If any of you have questions about my platform and how it will impact various aspects of your time at CMU, I encourage you to email me in the appropriate forum at firstname.lastname@example.org
so that I can eliminate confusion surrounding assumptions that might be made.
