{"id":10462,"date":"2024-09-26T10:49:41","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T14:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/news\/?p=10462"},"modified":"2024-09-26T10:52:41","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T14:52:41","slug":"composites-for-buggy-a-crash-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/news\/2024\/09\/composites-for-buggy-a-crash-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Composites For Buggy &#8211; A Crash Course"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Happy Thursday buggy fans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We at the BAA Teams Committee are taking advantage of a weekend without rolls to run our first ever &#8220;Composites 101&#8221; course for current buggy students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When?<\/strong> Saturday 9\/28, 2-3pm<br><strong>Where?<\/strong> Wean Hall, 4625<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ll be covering topics such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What are the pros and cons of different carbon fiber weave types?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the best core material choices for a team on a budget?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the difference between a wet layup and resin infusion? Can I use the same materials? And what the heck is prepreg carbon fiber? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do we validate composite parts in industry&#8230; and why does that not necessarily work for us in the buggy world?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is geared to be accessible to new teams and freshmen buggy mechanics&#8211; but there should be plenty of interesting info for more experienced buggy mechanics as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alumni&#8211; no need to feel left out!
