Might Buggy help C-Mite?<\/h1>\n

With our forums acting a bit screwy (we’re working on it!), some people haven’t been able to make the posts they want. Not to be deterred, Conrad Zapanta (CIA alum, and currently\u00a0Associate Department Head of Biomedical Engineering at CMU) reached out to us here at BAA HQ with a request:<\/p>\n

“As someone who works with CMU’s C-MITE program<\/a>, they are really, really interested in developing a program based on buggy that would teach the kids how physics, math, engineering, etc. are applied to buggy.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A quick list of what C-MITES is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Programs for gifted students<\/li>\n
  • Kindergarten – ninth grade<\/li>\n
  • Weekend\u00a0and\u00a0summer classes<\/li>\n
  • Testing programs to identify exceptional talent<\/li>\n
  • Locations throughout Pennsylvania<\/li>\n
  • Student participants from many states and foreign countries<\/li>\n
  • Scholarships and financial aid<\/li>\n
  • Resources for parents<\/li>\n
  • Resources for teachers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    They would be looking for something like a weekend workshop that would be about 2-3 hours long and talk about the\u00a0tenets behind buggy. Tom Wood has also suggested a possible connection with the Soap Box derby since we would be able to actually get a kit and have the kids work on something instead of just look.<\/p>\n
