{"id":549,"date":"2009-10-12T06:00:47","date_gmt":"2009-10-12T10:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/News\/?p=549"},"modified":"2023-09-03T16:18:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:18:00","slug":"rolls-report-1011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/news\/2009\/10\/rolls-report-1011\/","title":{"rendered":"Rolls Report 10\/11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday was rained out and mercifully cancelled before 8pm Friday night, leaving time for other plans.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday was just one of those days. \u00a0Some hold-up with the police and the outer barricades meant things didn&#8217;t get started until 7:40 or so. \u00a0From then on, the same teams and buggies that rolled super efficiently last week dragged through the roll order. \u00a0JB owes me &#8220;big money&#8221; on a bet that they would make it through the roll order a second time. \u00a0They were 6 orgs short.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In Attendance &#8230; Orgs (11) : \u00a0DTD, Pioneers,\u00a0Spirit,\u00a0SigNu,\u00a0PhiKap,\u00a0SDC,\u00a0PiKA,\u00a0Fringe,\u00a0CIA,\u00a0AEPi,\u00a0SigEp<br \/>\nand the usual assortment of buggies<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-wzxpHfb\/0\/d7531047\/Th\/DSC_0755-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-zNMscJB\/0\/a8f64195\/Th\/DSC_0768-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-6rW4W7M\/0\/bb8925f9\/Th\/DSC_0798-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-PHXNNHW\/0\/6746d901\/Th\/DSC_0807-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-9M2LGXN\/0\/ff5a3c83\/Th\/DSC_0828-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\/i-dkVsvj8\/0\/94c33744\/Th\/DSC_0836-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: right;\"><strong>Observations<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/cmubuggy.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-11\">full gallery here<\/a>)<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>PhiKap got the racing season started with an attempted pass between the stop sign and the monument. \u00a0Shaddy and Svengali left hill 2 closely spaced, and by the time they passed the stop sign the gap was gone. \u00a0Rather than tap the breaks and let her teammate win the heat, the trailing driver went for the pass like a champ. \u00a0Only problem was she cut it too close and instead of a pass they got a spin and a two stopped buggies. \u00a0Now that&#8217;s racing.<\/li>\n<li>SigNu ended up stuck along the same curb that PiKA did last week on hill 3.<\/li>\n<li>AEPi&#8217;s driver&#8217;s goggles fogged up and left her blinded as she entered the chute. \u00a0Apparently the brakes weren&#8217;t working well enough to stop her, so she started hollering &#8220;Help!&#8221; from inside the moving buggy. \u00a0Somehow that turned out to be the right thing to do. \u00a0Someone jumped over the bales and grabbed the pushbar and brought her to a safe stop. \u00a0Maybe that should be an acceptable form of braking during capes and drops as well.<\/li>\n<li>PiKA didn&#8217;t bring Cyclone <a href=\"http:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/News\/?p=526\">back out<\/a>, but they did role both Nemesis and Chimera together which may not have happened so far this year. Cyclone only rolled once last week, so I would hope we&#8217;d see it again. Cleaning up and caping a buggy that old is a lot of work for 1 roll, although this is the team that has retired buggies after a couple of days of rolls.<\/li>\n<li>SDC had the Flip video camera back out on Envy. Perhaps they&#8217;d like to share a video <a href=\"http:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/News\/?p=140\">again<\/a> with us this fall?
