{"id":587,"date":"2009-10-27T06:00:13","date_gmt":"2009-10-27T10:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/News\/?p=587"},"modified":"2023-09-03T16:27:55","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:27:55","slug":"rolls-report-1025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cmubuggy.org\/news\/2009\/10\/rolls-report-1025\/","title":{"rendered":"Rolls Report 10\/25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the later than usual report this week. \u00a0Post-game Steelers celebrations unexpectedly went all night.<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was rained out again this week bringing the tally to 4 rain-outs in the last 5 scheduled days of rolls, but Sunday was a perfect fall day for rolls. \u00a0Nice leaves, not too hot, not too cold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In attendance<\/strong>: \u00a0AEPi, SigEp, DTD, Spirit, SigNu, PhiKap, SDC, PiKA, Fringe, CIA<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Observations<\/strong>: \u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/cmubuggy.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-25\">Full gallery here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-25\/i-np8jBzK\/0\/f48924af\/Th\/DSC_1382-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>PiKA&#8217;s Wyvern rolled for the first time since a crash in the fall of &#8217;07. \u00a0Rumor was that it was pretty badly damaged in that crash and not likely to ever roll again. \u00a0I guess those rumor mongerers didn&#8217;t factor in that the Pikes would work on fixing it up for 2 years. \u00a0It looked as good as new (as opposed to the actually new Nemesis which looks like it has some sort of a duct tape infection) and rolled well. \u00a0Still haven&#8217;t seen &#8216;ole Cyclone back out.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-25\/i-WWzDScj\/0\/45cd195d\/Th\/DSC_1278-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><a style=\"float: right;\" href=\"https:\/\/cmubuggy.smugmug.com\/Ultimate-Speed\/USC-2009\/i-zrxkKdQ\/A\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Ultimate-Speed\/USC-2009\/i-zrxkKdQ\/0\/70185ee6\/O\/Wheel2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Knightfall was rolling on some new front wheels that suggest the Ultimate Soap Box Derby &lt;&#8211;&gt; Buggy connections are healthy and full of soap-opera quality drama. \u00a0 The spoke design is pretty clearly a Zero Error product which is interesting because they&#8217;ve been involved with a few teams already, but PiKA&#8217;s alliances were previously with Zero Error&#8217;s competitor.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: right;\">PiKA and AEPi both had incidents on the back hills which are quickly becoming the most treacherous part of the course. \u00a0It seems the sun is particularly glare-ful this year or something. \u00a0Perhaps the curbs have been laced with magnets.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-25\/i-jdwc8HD\/0\/8df31a1c\/Th\/DSC_1315-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>And in non-PiKA news &#8230; AEPi&#8217;s chairman reportedly rolled in Kamikaze just for fun. \u00a0Tell us, was it as awesome as all the rest of us mechanics have always hoped and dreamed? \u00a0Or was it loud, uncomfortable, and claustrophobic? \u00a0Could go either way.<\/li>\n<li style=\"clear: right;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"giThumbnail alignright\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/2009-2010\/Fall-Rolls-Oct-25\/i-Gb8dtkC\/0\/da63cdb2\/Th\/DSC_1226-Th.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>DTD is using round wheels now, but they haven&#8217;t exactly worked out all the kinks. \u00a0Bethany required a boost around the transition flag, and then again right in the middle of the chute. \u00a0No better way to get everyone in shape for the spring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the later than usual report this week. \u00a0Post-game Steelers celebrations unexpectedly went all night. &#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211; Saturday was rained out again this week bringing the tally to 4 rain-outs in the last 5 scheduled days of rolls, but Sunday was a perfect fall day for rolls. \u00a0Nice leaves, not too hot, not too cold.
