Drivers MUST wear an approved mouthguard whenever they are driving a buggy. Push practice is the only time that mouthguards are strongly recommended, but not required. Approved mouthguards meet the ANSI/ADA Specification 99-2001 and must protect at least the upper jaw as well as provide some type of custom fitting, such as boil and bite or custom fitted mouthguards. Difficulty speaking or breathing generally indicates an incorrectly fitted mouthguard. Stock mouthguards provide inadequate protection and are NOT approved for use.
