But then you'd be going up the freeroll, which would be significantly less exciting than going down the freeroll...

Are you kidding me? Have the jet truck go UP the freeroll while buggies go DOWN the freeroll. That would be the most exciting thing ever

Oh, that would be exciting. I didn't consider that possibility. Still, you can go downhill faster than you can go uphill, so I think going downhill would be more fun. Maybe give a 3 buggy heat a head start, then aim to go from follow truck to lead truck position. That could be exciting too.
