Oct 25: Rolls canceled due to rain. The Homecoming Events continued (Saturday Events Gallery).
Oct 26: Eleven orgs and quite a few alumni were present at freerolls on Sunday.
Rolling Orgs: SAE, AEPi, SigNu, PiKA, SDC, Fringe, PhiKap, SigEp, CIA, Spirit, KDR
Number of Buggies: four for SDC and Fringe, three for CIA, SigNu, and PiKA, and two for KDR. (This information was not recorded during rolls, so may be innacurate.)
Not rolling: Beta had an off-campus party on Saturday night, either for Homecoming or because they can’t party next week due to an away game. Pioneers has not yet qualified a buggy for rolls.
CMUtv was filming rolls. They are definitely starting early.
Rolls were slightly delayed as Hills 4 and 5 were swept of leaves again. Sweepers also worked on the backhills between rolls later in the morning. The orgs got through the roll order about 2 and a half times.
Fringe sent Bantam down hill fourth with a couple bags to slow her down. Reports say the buggy hit the sidewalk in front of Phipps before the Transition Flagger. The problem was reportedly due to a lack of visibility. The driver was fine, but the buggy will need some touching up.
PiKA had incredibly slow roll from Brimstone. An ambitious alumni in the Chute gave the buggy an extra push. Chimera reportedly had the fastest freeroll time of the day which is a bit unusual for PiKA this early in the year.
Spirit followed the theme and needed two pushes to eventually stop at Monument. They decided to extract the driver rather than continue the roll.
SigEp is already starting to push full Hill 1s. They stage out of Skibo Gym and roll the buggy up Hill 1 for each roll anyways.
SDC continues to film the backside of rolls. This time the Flip camera was placed on Envy’s outer
(left) side.
Sigma Nu was rolling decently with Skua and their green wheels, but they had trouble with the duct tape technology. Skua’s hatch nearly fell off on the first roll, and the tape was flapping in the breeze the rest of the time.
SAE is looking to buy wheels for Rubicon. If anyone can point them in the right direction, they would appreciate it greatly. Send a private message to kfc (my other identity on this site) for email addresses.
Other issues: Someone in charge of campus room reservations forgot that instructors sometimes need to arrive early and bring heavy supplies to campus. A class or seminar was reserved for 9 am Sunday mornings. In previous years, such issues have resulted in rolls stopping at 8:45. Hopefully, they will find a resolution that doesn’t cut into freeroll practice.
On the weekend of Nov 1-2, rolls will occur only on Sunday due to Halloween.
