The Buggy Alumni Association is holding its first ever events this homecoming and if you know buggy, you’re going to want to be there. People are flying in from around the country to kick things off, there are even buggies coming in from out of town.
Here’s the event lineup:
Friday, October 24
2-3pm : West Conference Room, Warner Hall
The Science and Art of Buggy
Presented by Matt Wagner (E’87)
Today’s economy requires innovation as a critical component of business success but also causes challenges. This talk will show that participation in Buggy is an excellent way for students to develop skills that they’ll need to be successful, professional innovators.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25

Come out to see who is rolling this year, and say hello to alumni and students.

11:30am-3pm : Hoch Commons, 2nd Floor, UC
Buggy Welcome Table and Display
Join the Buggy Alumni Association and enter yourself in our buggy historical database (www.cmubuggy.org). Display will include photos and buggies, including the record-setting Tiger Shark II (four-time winner) and Mad Dog (three-time winner), among others.
12:30-1:15pm : Adamson Wing, Baker Hall
History of Buggy
Presented by Tom Wood (E ’74)
Tom will share photos, Buggy Books, facts, stories, and videos from key Buggy events during the classes celebrating reunions in 2008. Copies of the presentation will be available, including the “missing book” from 1968, donated by Jeff LaRochelle (TPR’72, S’72).

Buggy Alumni Association Kick-off Reception
After History of Buggy, follow the group to our mixer and Alumni Association Kick-off Reception. Alumni and student Buggy participants from all organizations are welcome!

I am confused. Would it not have made sense to kick off a buggy related alumni group at Carnival? Guess I missed out somehow on the Homecoming races over the last 35 years.

Just as it’s not a good idea to come out for rolls for the first time on truck weekend, we didn’t think it would be a good idea to make Carnival our first event.
Kicking things off now at homecoming will hopefully allow us to gather some membership and funds over the next 7 months. That way, our Carnival event will be good enough to compete with all the other things vying for your attention on raceday.
