Hello, it’s back to your regularly scheduled rolls reporter this week! Thanks much to James for filling in in my absence. Many happenings this weekend, including a single day of rolls due to not having quorum on November 1st. We saw buggies in Halloween costumes, successful and aborted pass tests, and teams doing Hill 1s to get ready for Mini-Raceday next week. I hope to see you there! Message us if you are coming and can help us time the teams, or just come for the action (and donuts).

General Observations:
- This was a mostly smooth day of rolls as teams geared up for Mini-Raceday. There were the usual activities to keep the course clean and clear. Falling leaves meant longer-than-usual sweeping, such that rolls started a bit later (although still way earlier than last weekend thanks to Daylight Savings ending). The geese that have made their home on Flagstaff Hill decided that Sunday was the day to try to conquer the monument, and the flaggers had to repeatedly chase them away. We have some video of these epic battles- follow our Instagram to see it!
The full video is on our instagram!
- The only pause in rolls today was pass test-related, as Helios was attempting a pass during a Fringe roll. There was some confusion as 2 fringe buggies and Helios approached the transition flag somewhat close to each other and they all came to a stop after a stop flag was given. We have video of this event; it is a part of a new periodic feature- the Video Rolls Report. Thanks to Rob S, BAA officer & ISM who recorded video this weekend from across the course. - Don’t forget that this upcoming weekend is Homecoming as well as Mini-Raceday! The BAA will be out in force helping with timing, and this year Sweepstakes is planning on running at least a few two-buggy heats. And, again, there will be donuts! Don’t miss it! As far as predictions: Paranoia and Raptor both looked to be rolling faster than the rest of the field this year so far, so SDC and PiKA will be your favorites in my book. But maybe we’ll get a surprise?
Team Observations:
- Apex. Helios had a very busy day. Apex looked to get a pass test for 2 different drivers in Helios, and the first one went off without a hitch. But, during the second pass test attempt (with Fringe), the buggy being passed didn’t get to the line in time. Then, the next time through was the incident we listed above. Finally, they partnered with PiKA who added 5 bags to Raptor and made sure the pass happened!
- CIA. CIA had an interesting formation this weekend. They rolled Emperor and Kingfisher early, getting through the rolls order a few times with just those 2. Then they switched to Goldfinch and Starling. Goldfinch was sporting a very cool costume that I never got a perfect look at- CIA share a picture with us please! While their speed was a bit off SDC and PiKA, their rollouts were as good as ever. Update: Kingfisher and Goldfinch were dressed as CIA’s chairs, and CIA’s chairs were dressed as Kingfisher and Goldfinch. Sorry I don’t have those photos!
- Fringe. Bermuda
and Blackbirdhad straightforward ghost costumes, and they were very generous with their slot in the order (attempting to) help Apex pass. Very smooth driving by them this weekend. Update: Blackbird’s costume was Blueshift!
- PiKA. Raptor was moving very quickly, except when it had 5 bags helping Helios pass. Excited to see if they bring an exceptional push team for Mini-Raceday.
- SDC. SDC continues the streak of winning “Best Costume” with Paranoia sporting a full Red Bull can mockup. Lust had no costume and started with some concerning turns, but ironed it out nicely by the end. We also saw Vice return to the course with a new driver, and sporting some very nice tape art (and lots of bags).
- Spirit. 2 buggies out for Spirit this week. They went with the classic costume of cat ears for both Inviscid and Seraph. They were demonstrating very consistent lines and rolls today.
