Congrats to SDC and CIA

What an amazing Raceday! It was an amazing year of solid races, incredibly close times and some unexpected upsets. On top of how close the races were, this has probably been one of the safest years of races in recent history. Before we get into the awards, we want to give a huge thank you to the sweepstakes team this year. Elon, Haliey, and John were a pleasure to work with throughout the year and particularly as we worked out the details for Raceday itself.

If you missed the Races, you can still catch them on CMUtv and they are well worth the watch, or re-watch, or re-re-watch. Commentary this year was again fantastic thanks to the return of Andy Bordick and Will Weiner who were joined this year by Connor Hayes of Apex fame. CMUtv also did a great job capturing the races this year continuing their great use of the picture-in-picture display and also adding a scrolling ticker to the bottom of the screen so you never had to wait more than a minute for the times you wanted to see. Thanks also to WRCT for getting the audio feed to the chute fixed for the second day.

Now without further ado, here are the awards that were presented after everything was said and done. Continue reading

We’re Almost there!

Over the next 2 hours, there are two big things happening that you won’t want to miss, both of which you can join from the comfort of your home/office/computer.

At 7pm EST, we will be live on WRCT telling you all about Raceday with some special guests who can tell us the inside scoop about some of the goings on. You can stream it live from your computer at WRCT.org or if you are in Pittsburgh, you can listen in at 88.3 fm.

At 8pm EST, the 2015 Lead Truck Auction will be ending. If you haven’t yet bid on your favorite heat, you are running out of time! There are still one or two heats left that have NO bids on them and are just waiting for some lucky winner to win a super cheap ride in the Lead Truck. Check out the auction Now!

We can’t wait to See you all very soon!

2015 Raceday Preview is HERE!

It’s what you’ve all been waiting for, the 2015 Raceday preview is out and ready for your hungry eyes. Using CMU’s donation tracking list, we have sent out the preview to those people who were ahead of the game. Unfortunately, it seems we’ve been caught in some spam blockers, particularly if you have a cmu email address on file with the Alumni Association. We are working around the issue, so if you know you should be getting one, please be patient.

Those of you that made your contribution more recently were not on our list and we will be sending yours out shortly!  Continue reading

Compubookie 2015

Compubookie is getting lazier and lazier, so lazy that they again missed the print deadline for the Tartan. After a few years of being late, the team at the Tartan doesn’t care and can’t be bothered to do anything with it. We’re not ones to censor buggy related news and he/she/it seems to have toned down a bit this year after last year’s backlash, even though it seems they’ve forgotten that women’s finals now goes to 8 teams, not just 6.

By the way, have you checked out the Lead Truck Auction yet? We’ve only got about 32 hours left in the Auction and there are still a few heats and finals picks that haven’t been bid on so get on it and claim your spot in the lead truck for yourself or a friend!

The Raceday Preview is just about ready for release and it looks like it’ll be our biggest one to date. It’s going to be chock full of interesting and fun articles as well as detailed team descriptions to give you the scoop on what teams have been up to since last raceday. Right now we are checking our membership roster and making sure that you get what you paid for. If you haven’t yet renewed your membership or signed up, there’s still time! Just make sure you let us know and we’ll get it to you as quickly as we can.

If you’re too cheap to get the full preview (really? it’s only $10), we will be sitting down with some recent alums and current students this WEDNESDAY at 7:00PM EST broadcasting our raceday predictions from the WRCT booth in the basement of the UC. Be sure to tune in or stream it live from their site.

Now, without further ado…

Rolls Report: April 11 & 12 – Truck Weekend

As usual, this report is going to be a bit trimmed down from what’s been coming out so far this year. If you want to get the full report make sure you join up and become a member to get this year’s Raceday Preview. The Preview will be coming out in the next few days and it is chock full of great info and some fun articles. We’ll give you the scoop on who to look out for this season.

Truck weekend generally went smoothly, if a bit slow. All teams were frantically getting as many rolls as possible with this being the only two-day weekend of the season. Amazingly, all teams managed to qualify completely so there are going to be no need for any exemptions. Saturday photos will be posted this evening, there were some format issues that prevented them from getting out earlier.
