The BAA is once again holding our lead truck auction this year!  It’s the one chance you (or a, parent, a spouse, a friend, or any buggy fanatic in your life) have of being right in the middle of the action on Raceday. You’ll sit in the back of the lead truck for whatever race(s) you can win!  Proceeds help with all the costs of putting on such a spectacular Raceday, including the BAA’s sponsorship and various broadcast and other improvements.

The auction will go live on Monday morning (and don’t worry, we’ll post about it here).  Most things are the same as last year (and a description of how it works is below), but first we wanted to highlight the main change this year, and explain how it’s going to work.

Up for Reelection – Meet the Webmaster

Aside from the previous three members who are finishing their second and final terms, our head of the web is up for continuing into his second term and just needs your vote of confidence to keep fixing, updating, and modernizing our beloved home on the net. Since this is the final position that must be voted on this year, let’s lay out the election schedule ahead of us.

  • Nomination Period Closes: April 15 @ 11pm EDT
  • Elections Ballots Open: April 19th 29th tentative
  • Elections Ballots Close & Announcements: May 4th

If you believe Buggy is a sport that should continue, please consider being a part of the team that makes it happen. The BAA operates solely on the generosity of the alumni and the few who donate their time for a couple years to keep things running. In lieu of a rolls report this week due to the wet weather, let’s continue the Raceday HYPE and introduce the people you’ll be primarily hearing from this Carnival. BUT! before we introduce all of our amazing broadcasters for this year, a quick plug that we are still in need of some volunteers to help us with a few of the necessary Raceday operations. In particular, we need people to help identify and transcribe finish line times. The only requirement is that you be at the finish-line tent during the finishes. If you can spare a few races during the mornings, we would be incredibly grateful and have some physical gifts in return for your service.

This year, if you’d like to try and see what being a commentator is like, you can have your chance during the Exhibition races! Swing by the BAA Tent at the top of the hill and we’ll get you a spot!

Check Your Membership

Hey Buggy Alumni!  It’s your friendly neighborhood BAA Treasurer here.  Can you believe we’re LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY from Raceday 2019?  Me neither!  As you know, The BAA sends out our Annual Raceday Preview to all members before Raceday.  Since those previews will be going out next week, now is the perfect time to make sure you’re a member for the 2018-2019 season!  Below is a link where you can check your status.  There are 4 possibilities:

1) You are on the list with NO asterisks – You’re all set to receive your preview

2) You are on the list WITH asterisks next to your last name (**) – You’re a member, but we don’t have your email address!  Send us an email at join@cmubuggy.org and let us know where to send your Raceday Preview.

3) You are NOT on the list but have already donated this year – If you think there’s an error and we’re missing you, forward your donation receipt to join@cmubuggy.org and we’ll make sure to update our list and get you your Raceday Preview.

4) You are NOT on the list and have NOT already donated this year – Now’s the perfect time!  A $10 donation makes you a full BAA member for the season, which gets you access to the Raceday Preview, but we accept donations of all sizes, small or large!  Your donation goes to support the BAA’s activities throughout the year, but most importantly they help support Raceday itself!  You can DONATE HERE (or, if you use CMU’s own “Give” page, make sure to select “View All Funds”, then “Other” all the way down at the bottom of the page, and then type in “Buggy Alumni Association”).  Once you get your receipt, forward it to join@cmubuggy.org and we’ll add you to the list of members!
